Mount Jo - June 14, 2014 -- Not a High Peak

We had our annual Father's Day family reunion at Pharaoh Lodge in Brant Lake.

Seven of us hiked Mount Jo on Saturday, and it was blessedly less effort than a High Peak. We took the short trail up and the long trail down, about an hour each way. Advice: take the long trail both ways, even if it is muddier. Mount Marcy was wrapped in mist/clouds and far down below heart lake looked pristine. The trail had a few forks that should have been marked.  Descending from the summit, we had difficulty finding the the actual trail.  On the long trail back, part of the trail goes up slightly--that can cause anxiety/confusion about whether one is on the right trail. On the way down, I took a fall--it seems that falls tend to happen when descending, at least with me. The hikers were:  Edward Bauer, Matthew Bauer, Matthew Huff, Andrew Bauer, Mark Bauer, and Shannon Bauer.  Hank Bauer and Missy Wells had started with us, but Missy had trouble with the footing. Hank and Missy decided to hike around Heart Lake instead.
